In an effort to help fund a cure for cancer, Beta Kappa Phi of The College of Wooster is organizing a special event known as “The 60 Mile Pitch”. On Monday April 27th, the Brothers of Beta Kappa Phi will be running a baseball from campus to Progressive Field, in Cleveland, totaling 67 miles. Each individual member will carry the baseball and relay it to the next, until it arrives for the ceremonial first pitch of the Cleveland Indians vs. Boston Red Sox game.
The run will officially start at 8:00 am when Beta Kappa Phi President David Boardman throws the baseball to the first runner, in front of Armington Hall. From there, the Brothers will take turns running the baseball the entire 67 miles to downtown Cleveland for the first pitch.
For the event, we will be raising money for the Jimmy V. Foundation for Cancer Research. The Jimmy V Foundation is a charitable organization committed to funding cancer research and raising cancer awareness, in hopes of one day finding a cure. More information about the Jimmy V Foundation can be found on their website, www.JimmyV.org.
